Healthier Shopping Made Easier With This Tool

by Ms. S on October 7, 2010

Living in NYC, we don’t drive our car often.  However, over the past few months, we’ve been taking more road trips and both my three-year-old and I have been getting quite nauseous in the car.  Motion sickness hasn’t felt like the main cause.  So when I recently received an email from HealthyStuff.org, which researches toxic chemicals in everyday products, about the widgets below, I immediately researched our car and learned that its toxic rating is of “high concern.”  Turns out, our car is particularly high in chlorine!

Since we’re not going to buy a new car because of this, I’m not sure what to do with this information (other than open the windows more frequently).  But I’m glad to better understand why my daughter and I get so nauseous in the car.  If you’d like to check out your car, toys, pet stuff, children’s products and apparel — or, better, if you’re about to buy one of those types of items, then play with the tools below!

Please note: In order to run the Widget, you must have Adobe Flash Player version 9 or higher installed. Adobe Flash Player may be downloaded here. The Widget also requires a network connection in order to function.
